Ashleigh + Sam – Glen Ewin Estate Pulpshed Wedding

It was Friday the 2nd of January 2015, a day Adelaide wont ever forget. It was the day that the Adelaide Hills bush fires started.

As I was driving to go photograph Sam and the boys, I was hoping and praying that no fires would start as it was forecasted to be a 42 degree day with a Catastrophic fire danger warning. It wasn’t until I was making my way to Glen Ewin Estate that I could see black smoke coming from the hills.

As I arrived at Glen Ewin, I was worried. Worried that this fire would get out of control and worried for Ashleigh and Sam who’s special day could potentially get cancelled. We proceeded as normal and we went on to enjoy an amazing afternoon, despite the heat and oblivious to how badly the fires were spreading nearby.

Ashleigh is originally from Adelaide, she met Sam in NSW, fell in love and well, the rest is history! These two are the most gorgeous, kind and warm hearted people you will ever meet. I knew as soon as we met that their day was going to be absolute fun!

Shortly after I left the reception everyone was told to evacuate, the wind had changed direction and the fires were now uncontrollable. Thankfully, Ashleigh and Sam were able to relocate their wedding to the Alma Tavern with the help of some friends and were able to enjoy the rest of the evening. A bittersweet ending to their beautiful wedding day but one which I am sure will touch many people.

Ashleigh and Sam, despite everything that happened that day, you both did not let anything get to you. Thank you for both being super amazing xx
